Poland Immigration Policy Changes Expected in Late 2026

Preview of Poland'\''s upcoming immigration reform — digital applications, expanded declarations, and streamlined processing expected late 2026.

The Polish government is preparing a comprehensive immigration reform package expected to be presented in the second half of 2026. The proposed changes aim to modernize the immigration system, reduce processing backlogs, and better align Poland’s labor migration policies with economic needs.

Expected Changes

Key proposals include digitalization of the entire residence permit application process, reducing the role of in-person visits to Voivodeship Offices. A centralized processing center is planned to handle routine applications, freeing regional offices to focus on complex cases.

The employer declaration system (Oświadczenie) may be expanded to include additional nationalities, while the maximum duration could be adjusted. Labor market testing requirements for standard work permits are expected to be streamlined for shortage occupations.

Impact on Current Applicants

Current permit holders and applicants should not be affected negatively by the reforms. Transitional provisions are expected to protect existing rights. However, those planning to apply in 2027 may benefit from waiting for the new procedures, which promise faster processing and reduced documentation requirements.
