Types of Student Authorization
International students in Poland typically need one of two documents: a National Visa (type D) for the initial entry, followed by a Temporary Residence Permit for the duration of their studies. EU/EEA citizens do not need either and can register their stay directly.
The national visa allows an initial stay of up to one year, during which students should apply for a temporary residence permit. This permit is issued for the duration of the study program plus three additional months, up to a maximum of three years.
Required Documents
Student visa applicants must provide a confirmation of admission from a recognized Polish educational institution, proof of sufficient financial means (minimum 776 PLN per month for the planned stay), valid health insurance, accommodation arrangements, and a clean criminal record certificate.
Financial proof can include bank statements, scholarship confirmations, or sponsorship letters from parents or guardians. The total required amount must cover the entire planned period of stay.
Working While Studying
International students in Poland enjoy favorable work regulations. Full-time students at accredited institutions can work without a separate work permit. This applies to both part-time and full-time employment, making it easier for students to gain work experience and support themselves financially during their studies.
